Huf Worldwide have released a lot of amazing collaborations over the past few years, one with Thrasher Skateboard Magazine and just recently the Pulp Fiction collection. Coming to FallenFront this November is another HUF collaboration we think might be the best to date, HUF Worldwide x The Smashing Pumpkins.
25 years ago, The Smashing Pumpkins released their most commercially successful album, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Estimated to have sold over 11 million copies of the album since its first release on October 24th, 1995. Bullet with Butterfly Wings was the album’s lead single, debuting at the number one position on the US Billboard 200, fetching sales of 246,500 copies within the first week. The album also blessed the universe with another five singles, “Tonight, Tonight”, “Zero”, “Muzzle”, “Thirty-Three”, and the “1979” which also happened to be our favourite that we tapped from the radio and played over and over again. The Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness album also earned them seven nominations in the 1997 Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year for “1979” and another for Album of the year.
HUF Worldwide X The Smashing Pumpkins collaboration pays homage to the Mellon Collie album, released timely to celebrate the 25 Year anniversary. HUF pulling on the inspiration from some of The Smashing Pumpkins most iconic and influential artwork throughout the 90s era. The full collection is consisting of various printed tees on some special washes, patterned button up shirts, classic pullover hoodies, and the limited-edition Mellon Collie skateboard deck. Our favourite piece of the collection is the Tonight Tonight Short Sleeve Woven Top, a rayon shirt with an all over print graphic.
