INTRODUCING JIBERISH

A BRIEF INTERVIEW WITH THE CREW BEHIND IT 

" Being based at the foot of the Rocky Mountains in Denver Colorado, outdoor influences are apparent in the quality and integrity of our garments. We own and operate our own boutique in Denver which exclusively carries Jiberish products and collaborations. In 2005 we emerged on the scene and snowsports enthusiasts backed our bold and unique sweatshirt designs. As we have grown in the years since and widened our product range the brand has garnered attention from a larger audience for craftsmanship, attention to detail, and unique design. "

Tell us a little bit about the brand - what was the inspiration that started the Jiberish journey?
The brand started as a hobby between three friends; a creative outlet for our collective interests which have changed and developed over the past 15 years. At this time, those interests cover everything hip-hop to psych rock, French wine to tequila, action sports to fly fishing, art, food and everything in between. 
Coming out of Colorado, you are surrounded by mountains. Tell us a little bit about the relationship you have with winter sport, specifically free skiing…
We’re a Denver-based brand so we have a city life and a mountain life. A lot of other places out there don’t have that unique mix. When we started we had a unique outside perspective on freeskiing and snowboarding in that we all had full time jobs so all of our early decisions were not financially motivated. Everything we did was based on what we thought was cool and what would put us in the best position connection-wise. Although the brand is run differently than it was at its inception, that’s something we’ve tried to hold true to throughout the years.
Your garments are extremely high quality, from fabric to print… What’s your design process from start to finish?
We are in a very fortunate position to be able to work closely with one of the garment industry's premium most blank suppliers - Original Favorites. To be able to have input on the garments and colors offered each season if a huge win for us. That being said, inspiration typically comes from whatever our interests cover at any given time. From the music we listen to, to the books we’re reading or the food we’re eating - it can strike at any time, and that’s something that we’re always aware.
I believe we are the first store based out of NZ to stock Jiberish… correct me if I’m wrong haha! Have you been to this side of the world? Did you imagine your garment’s would be popping worldwide?
Yes, I believe you are the first store in NZ that’s ever stocked Jiberish. We could not be more excited to be down there. Whenever we see our garments reach the different corners of the world it is a great feeling to know that our vision is shared internationally. These connections to people worldwide are something we find extremely rewarding. Our operations manager has actually spent about 8 months in New Zealand. He was fortunate enough to study abroad at Victoria University of Wellington and was able to travel both the North and South island every weekend. Wellington was one of the places that really sparked his interest in fashion and apparel, so it is super rad to see it come full circle. He loves NZ and hopes to make it back soon. Do you guys have any extra beds?
