It’s that time again. New Balance is back with a new set of the iconic 2002R Protection Pack. An exclusive & limited release of sneakers which have been selling out with every collection. Why the success of these New Balance shoes? Is it the premium pigskin suede which covers the uppers? Or maybe the fresh colour ways which bring a more refined, modern streetwear style to a classic silhouette from this heritage brand.
These shoes take a late-2000s technical running shoe and re-define the popular ‘Dad Shoe’ style to be wearable within the 2020s. This time round, FallenFront brings the brand new M2002RDH & M2002RDI. Both these sneakers are built with some insane raw edges and curve cuts, they’re hard not to miss. To add, these are commonly known as the ‘Protection Pack’ within the fashion community, however originally the designer Yue Wu named these packs ‘Refined Future’. Can’t argue with that…
Let’s first take a look at the new M2002RDH. A Pink/Lavender colour way which showcases subtle contrasts beneath each colours. The soles are finished in a creamy white colour way matching the laces and fixed with the brands ’N’ergy footbed, making them as comfy as you’ll find. Faded purple foam pods are exposed at the rear and finished with a rough and almost vintage style of black treading.
Backing this drop up is our favourite, the NB M2002RDI. The reworked 2002 is made in some monochrome blue hues. A clean take which aims to elevate your streetwear look from the ground up. Packed with pre-distressed detailing, a feature incorporated by the designer Yue Wu, made to bring comfort and encourage people to wear these styles without fear of wrecking them.
